The First American on the Team: This guy made us proud as the dickens: Ramiro Corrales was the first American citizen to become a Brann player. After first experiencing the Norwegian Immigration Authorities' sick sense of humor, he was forced to leave Norway for a while. He could finally return to Bergen in March to join the Brann squad, and prepare for the 2007 season. Ramiro Corrales was born March 12 1977, in Salinas, California. He is of Mexican descent. His professional soccer career started in 1996 when he was drafted by the Columbus Crew, but he was soon traded to the San Jose Clash (later Earthquakes). Then, for a couple of years Ramiro must have felt how it was like to be a slave... when he was traded several times. But in June 1998 Lady Luck was good to him when he made his way to the New York Metro Stars, so hey! the guy is a New Yorker! In 2001 Corrales was traded back to San Jose. He has played 4 matches for USA, to boot. But all of this was just the warming up. Corrales knew that big things were waiting for him. In 2004 he went to Norway to play soccer for the team Hamar-Kameratene. However, he was still just warming up. In January 2007 Ramiro Corrales' career caught fire when the talented left footer signed a contract with SK Brann, as the first American ever. The transfer fee was about the same as for a quarter of a very small Manhattan apartment, but as we all know so well, money isn't everything... Unfortunately, Ramiro stayed with Brann only for one season. January 2008 his contract with Brann was cancelled and he could return to the US to play in the MLS. The reasons for leaving Brann were his difficulties to adjust to his new sorroundings and his famliy's homesickness. All Brann fans in Bergen please excuse us, the latter we can actually understand. Etter først å ha erfart Utlendingsdirektorates syke form for humor ble han tvunget til å forlate Norge for en stund, men kunne så returnere til Bergen i mars for å slutte seg til Brann-troppen for å forberede seg til 2007-sesongen. Han ble snart solgt videre til San Jose Clash (senere Earthquakes). I et par år må Ramiro ha følt hvordan det må ha vært å være slave... han ble kjøpt og solgt en rekke ganger. Men i juni 1998 var skjebnen god mot ham da han fant veien til New York Metro Stars, så hei! fyren er jo en New Yorker! I 2001 returnerte Corrales til San Jose. Han har i tillegg spilt 4 kamper for USAs A-landslag. Men alt dette var jo kun oppvarming. Corrales visste at store ting ventet på ham. I 2004 dro han til Norge for å spille fotball. Først for Hamar-Kameratene. Men han varmet fortsatt bare opp. Det var i januar 2007 at Ramiros karriere tok fyr for fullt: Den talentfulle venstrebeinte signerte en kontrakt med SK Brann, som første amerikaner noensinne. Overgangssummen var omtrent som for en fjerdedel av en veldig liten Manhattan leilighet, men som vi jo alle vet så godt, penger er ikke alt.. Dessverre ble Ramiro i Brann kun en sesong. I Januar 2008 fikk han sin kontrakt med Brann kanselert og kunne returnere til USA for å spille i MLS. Årsaken var tilpasningsproblemer og familiens hjemlengsel. Alle Brann-fans i Bergen får ha oss unnskyldt, men det siste kan vi faktisk forstå.

Bjørn Tronstad: Wonderboy and goalgetter who played for Brann from 1974 until 1979. At the age of 25 he decided to leave a very promising soccer career behind (or perhaps he just had to do as his mom and dad told him to) when he moved to the United States to study. We know that he played college soccer in the US. After returning to Bergen he played a few games for Brann but we don't know whether these matches were official or not.	Bjørn Tronstad: Supertalent og måltyv som spilte for Brann fra 1974 til 1979. Kun 25 år gammel valgte han å si farvel til en lovende fotball karriere (eller kanskje han bare måtte gjøre som mamma og pappa sa) da han reiste til USA for å studere. Vi vet at han spilte universitetsfotball i USA. Han spilte også noen få kamper for Brann etter at han returnerte til Bergen, men hvorvidt dette var offisielle kamper vet ikke vi.
Bjørn Dahl: The fearsome defender. Played for Brann in the early 80's before he went to the US for business studies. He returned to Bergen to play for Brann again, now given the nick name El-Dahlo. We are tempted to think he got his nick name after the city El-Paso. Today Bjørn Dahl is the General Manager of SK Brann. He is to be honored for the successfull job he did turning the club's finances from bad to good early in the millennium and for making the club's economy as strong as it is today. He must have learned a few things down there in El-Paso!	Bjørn Dahl: Den fryktede midtstopper. Spilte for Brann tidlig på 80-tallet, før han reiste til USA for økonomistudier. Han returnerte til Bergen og spilte for Brann igjen - nå med klengenavnet El-Dahlo. Vi er fristed til å tro at han fikk sitt klengenavn etter byen El-Paso. Bjørn Dahl er idag daglig leder av Sportsklubben Brann. Han skal ha en stor del av æren for den vellykkede økonomiske opprydningen som klubben var igjennom i begynnelsen av århundret, og for at klubbens økonomi idag er solid. Noe godt må han ha lært der nede i El-Paso!
Rumors have reached New York that there are currently, in 2007, two former Brann juniors studying at the University of Akron in Ohio. They are Åsmund Michalsen (Psychology) and Kristian Gaustad (International Business). Both became Norwegian Champions with Brann's U-19 team in 2002. We take it for granted that they increased the level of college soccer in Ohio instantly. (Thanks to PAF for the information.)	Ryktet har nådd New York om at det for tiden, i 2007, er to forhenværende Brann juniorer studerende ved University of Akron i Ohio. Dette er Åsmund Michalsen (Psykologi) og Kristian Gaustad (International Business). Begge var norgesmestere for juniorer med Brann i 2002.
